Showtime Promotions

Showtime Promotions is dedicated to promoting young talent in Western Canada. We have a 30 years history in the dance community and have been organizing Dance Festivals over the past 25 years. We were the first Alberta Festival offering training levels so that the dancers are adjudicated according to their training and providing a fair and encouraging atmosphere in which they can progress from the beginner stages right through to professional careers. We only use the foremost adjudicators who are current performers and choreographers in the professional dance field. Each season we present over $50,000.00 in cash awards and scholarships to deserving young talent.

In our 26th season we have affiliated ourselves with the “Kids Help Phone” which is a fantastic Canada wide organization which provides council for kids in need or distress. We hope to raise awareness and funds for this worthy cause by supporting the youth in our communities as well as the emerging talent.

Currently we host four different competition and festival formats, totaling seven  Festival events in Sherwood Park (Edmonton) AB, Fort Saskatchewan , AB, Calgary AB, Kelowna BC and Surrey BC, along with a Grand Championships held in Kelowna BC, a Summer Intensive Workshop in Kelowna BC, and our hugely successful Rock Mountain Dance Project Summer Dance Camp in Jasper, AB.

We feel that all performers deserve one on one adjudication regardless of results and at both our Festivals and Competitions marks and medal placements are awarded to each performance. At the Evergreen, Dance Extreme and Dream Team Festivals special awards are presented for the “Outstanding”, “Most Promising” and “Adjudicators Choice” in each category in addition to medal placements based upon their level. At the Great Canadian Dance Challenge (a competition) First, Second and Third Place Awards are presented in addition to Medal placements. Choreography Awards are presented in every Group category at all of our events. We feel it is important to support and promote the choreographers  and teachers who dedicate themselves to excellence.

All Gold and High Gold recipients from any Showtime Promotions event qualify for our  Great Canadian Dance Challenge Grand Championships held every season in July in Kelowna, BC. At this event large cash awards for soloists, duets, groups and choreography are presented. Summer Training scholarships in Canada and the US are also presented. The Grand Championships concludes with a fantastic “Show of Stars” in which the performers dance off head to head for the large awards. The show is fantastic!

Our season ends with two extended training events which offer incredible value for intensive upgrading with fantastic choreographers. Our “Summer Dance Intensive” held directly following our Grand Championships in Kelowna allows dancers to train with our faculty of fantastic adjudicators and choreographers. Our “Rocky Mountain Dance Project” is a six day summer camp held in beautiful Jasper, AB including meals, accommodation, white water rafting and unlimited training with our fabulous faculty of professionals.
